Terms of use
Version 1.0, updated 2026-10-24
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Mapiko. By using the service, with or without an account, you accept these terms, the Platform rules and the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Service and operator
Mapiko is a map platform. It is provided by an individual, Demianov D.M. (referred to below as the “operator” or “we”). The service is free of charge.
A registered user creates maps and sets their rules. Without an account, you can view public maps and add pins, comment and vote where the map author allows it.
The service only hosts user content. The operator is not the author of this content and does not check every entry before publication: some entries are checked by filters, the rest are moderated by the map team (section “Moderation, reports and blocking”).
2. Account and maps
- You can use the service from the age of 16. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 16. An account is created only after you agree to these terms, the Platform rules and the Privacy policy: in the registration form or, if you sign in with Google, Telegram or Facebook for the first time, at the account creation step.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and access to the Google, Telegram or Facebook account you sign in with safe, and for all actions under your account. If someone else has gained access to your account, write to us.
- The map author controls its visibility (public, link only, private, only for people who saved the map), the pin adding mode, pin types, members and roles (owner, editor, moderator, viewer). The map owner is responsible for its name, description, settings and the decisions of its map team.
- We send only service emails: email confirmation (at your request from the profile), password reset links, notifications of a reply to your request and warnings from the administration. Confirming your email does not unlock anything: it is only needed so that emails about replies and warnings reach you.
- You can delete your account and your maps at any time in your profile, except in the cases described in the Privacy policy (a blocked account, the owner of a map blocked by the platform, the administrator role). Deletion is irreversible.
3. Your content and responsibility
- Content means pins, texts and fields, photos, comments, reactions, votes, names and descriptions of maps and pin types, reports and requests.
- The rights to your content remain yours. For the content you post, you are responsible, not the operator: for its truthfulness, legality and the consequences of publishing it.
- By posting content, you guarantee that you have the right to do so and that the content does not violate the law, the rights of other people (including the rights to privacy, honour, dignity and business reputation), these terms or the Platform rules.
- If third parties or authorities make claims against the operator because of your content or your actions, you compensate the operator for the resulting losses and costs to the extent provided by law.
- Anonymity is limited. The author of a pin or comment is not shown publicly, but the service stores the link between an entry and an account or anonymous identity, as well as the technical data described in the Privacy policy, and may hand them over at the lawful request of an authorized body.
4. Rules for posting pins
These rules apply on all maps of the platform. The map author cannot disable them. The full text is on the “Platform rules” page.
- Do not mark or describe the location of TCC (military enlistment offices), the military or police. The service is not a “radar”: automation flags such entries for review by the map team or, if the platform administration has set it up that way, rejects them immediately; reports on such pins are handled directly by the platform administration.
- Describe the place and the situation, not a person: no names, photos, car number plates, phone numbers, home addresses or other personal data of the people involved in the event. Contacts of organisations (phone, website, email) may be given.
- Pins of serious types (violence, abduction, murder) and pins in whose text automation detects signs of such events are published only after review by the map team. In case of danger, call 102 or 112.
- Do not publish knowingly false information, insults, threats, calls for violence, spam, advertising or other illegal content.
- Do not get around restrictions: do not create multiple accounts or anonymous identities to inflate votes or to bypass limits or blocks.
5. Moderation, reports and blocking
- Automation, following the platform administration’s rules (banned words, personal data), flags an entry as suspicious or, for obvious violations, rejects it immediately.
- The map team — the owner and moderators — approves, rejects, hides and deletes the content of its map and handles reports on it. On a map with pre-moderation, flagged content waits for the team’s decision; without pre-moderation, it is published immediately and reviewed after publication. The team can be stricter than the platform rules, but not more lenient, and can block a person on its map for 1 day, 7 days or permanently.
- Authors do not moderate their own pin, comment or photo: another moderator of the map does it. If the map has only one moderator, their content is published immediately and recorded in the moderation log.
- The operator is not obliged to check content before publication or to monitor it constantly. The operator responds to signals: “TCC, military, police” and “personal data” reports, reports on a map, reports escalated by the map team, and requests.
- At the operator’s own discretion, without warning and without giving reasons, the operator may hide or delete any content, warn a user, limit an account or an anonymous identity to “read-only” mode (1, 7 or 30 days), or block an account, an anonymous identity or a map if the operator believes they violate the law, these terms or the Platform rules. These actions do not depend on the map author’s settings and are recorded in the moderation log.
- How to report: the “Report” button next to a pin, comment or photo, or “Report map”. Violation of your rights, personal data, appeals against a decision or block: the “Contact support” form or an email to [email protected]. State what exactly was violated and where. The map team can escalate a report to the platform.
- The operator’s decision within the service is final. This does not deprive you of the right to go to court.
6. The service does not replace emergency services
Pins are messages from people, not an official source. The operator does not check whether they are true. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or false; pins are shown for a limited time. Do not make decisions on which safety depends based on the service alone. In an emergency, call 102, 103, 101 or 112.
7. License to your content and map data
By posting content, you grant the operator, free of charge, a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to use it to run the service in line with the map’s visibility: to store, reproduce, display, adapt (for example, downscale photos), distribute and make it available, including by embedding maps on other sites (widget), exporting pins as files (GeoJSON, KML, CSV), social media previews and the sitemap. Public content may be indexed and processed by search engines and artificial intelligence services.
After deletion, content disappears from the service within the periods stated in the Privacy policy. The operator does not control and cannot delete copies that others downloaded, embedded or indexed before that. The license does not make the operator the author of the content and does not shift responsibility for the content to the operator.
The base map is data © OpenStreetMap contributors under the ODbL license. User pins are stored in our database and are not part of OpenStreetMap. The platform’s reference maps are filled with data from open sources — OpenStreetMap (ODbL) and open data (CC BY) — with the source named in the map description; they contain contacts of organisations and sole proprietors as given in the source. To remove your data from such a pin, report it with the reason “personal data”.
8. Limitation of liability
- The service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. The operator does not guarantee that the service will work continuously and without errors, that data will be preserved, or that content will be accurate, complete or up to date.
- The operator may change, suspend or discontinue the service or parts of it, including without warning.
- The operator is not liable for user content, for decisions and actions taken based on the service’s content, for the decisions of map teams, for the operation of third-party services (base map, hosting, email, sign-in services), or for losses caused by the service being unavailable or by data loss.
- To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect losses and lost profits, and any liability of the operator is limited to direct proven losses.
- These limitations do not apply where the law prohibits limiting liability (in particular, for intentional harm).
9. Termination of access
You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account. The operator may limit or end your access and block an account, an anonymous identity or a map for violating these terms, the Platform rules or the law, and also to protect other users or the service.
10. Changes to the terms
The operator may change these terms. We publish the new version on this page with a new version number and date; we may additionally notify you about significant changes in the service. By using the service after a new version is published, you accept it. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.
11. Law and disputes
These terms and the relations arising from them are governed by the law of Ukraine.
We first try to resolve a dispute through negotiation: write to [email protected]. If that fails, the dispute is heard by the court at the operator’s place of residence, unless the law establishes a different jurisdiction.
If any provision of these terms is found invalid, the rest remains in effect. The terms are written in Ukrainian and Russian; the English version is a translation for reference only. In case of discrepancies, the Ukrainian version prevails.
12. Contact
Operator: Demianov D.M. Email: [email protected]. Requests are also accepted through the “Contact support” form in the service menu. We provide an address for official documents upon a lawful request.
